Why we are changing our name
A survey revealed various opinions about retaining or changing the name. Honest, various opinions about keeping or changing our name. One comment kept coming back: the name Schoups is simply difficult to work with in the three languages in which we are currently active Dutch, French, and English.
However, this name change is much more than a linguistic matter. It is the visible expression of an evolution that has been underway for several years — an evolution in who we are, in our vision and strategy, and in how we position ourselves for the future. The name is changing because the firm itself has evolved, including a new role for Marco Schoups, which we have previously communicated about: click here. This is a positive story that reflects our confidence in the future and in our firm.
What Scale stands for
We sought a name that is short, powerful, modern, and immediately recognisable and that retains a clear link to Schoups. In Scale, the first two letters, the S and the C, are preserved. But Scale is much more than that:
• Growth and strategic strength. Schoups has grown into a firm of significant scale, attracting cases of significance we can be proud of.
• Tailored approach. Scale also stands for precision: a personalised approach and a human touch remain at the core of how we work.
• The right tone. “Scale” also refers to a musical scale — the foundation of every piece of music — reflecting our ability to set the right tone in every matter.
• Balance and judgement. Scale subtly refers to the scales of Lady Justice : the balanced consideration of facts, arguments and evidence.
Moreover, the name itself is not invented, but an existing, universal term — one that sounds natural and is readily understood in Dutch, French and English.
Our foundation remains
Our name changes, our foundations do not. Quality, commitment, and strong collaboration remain. Or as we like to summarise it: expertise meets care.
