In arbitration, a dispute is resolved by one or more arbitrators, rather than by judges of the courts. In certain cases, arbitration can offer advantages, including in terms of the language of the procedure, speed, confidentiality, and expertise. For these reasons, arbitration, especially in an international context, is often an interesting alternative.

Schoups regularly acts as an arbitrator or as counsel in complex national and international arbitrations, in a variety of different matters (construction law (FIDIC), corporate law, M&A disputes, post-acquisition claims, etc.).
Our practice extends, among other things, to:

• drafting, reviewing, and amending arbitration clauses and broader dispute resolution clauses;
• acting as counsel in national and international arbitrations;
• arbitration procedures before the courts (regarding evidence, enforcement, annulment, …);
• providing advice on arbitration procedures (costs, assistance in appointing arbitrators, …).

Marco Schoups is a member of the board of directors of the Belgian arbitration institution Cepani and is part of the Belgian representatives at the ICC Commission on ADR and Arbitration. Benjamin Marchandise is a member of Cepani and several members of the team are members of Cepani40.
The arbitration team handles arbitrations in Dutch, French and English.
